Istituto di Ricerche Biochimiche Ganassini is a leading dermocosmetics brand. Our Dermonatural Laboratories and production operation are based in the city of Milan and reflect our “designed in Italy” ethos.
Scientific research, social, cultural and environmental sustainability are the central pillars of our Social Responsibility policy, encapsulating the passion, commitment and responsibility that Istituto Ganassini and Bioclin channel into building a better future for us all and for all future generations.
The ethical impact of our work is of fundamental importance. That is why we only work with suppliers that consider the impact of their activity on their employees, the environment and local communities.
Bioclin has signed up to the Sustainable Development Goals, set by UN Member States in order to promote the wellbeing of people and the planet.
We respect the European Directives on the ban on animal experimentation regarding cosmetic products, in order to protect animal health and indeed the entire ecosystem.
Our Environmental Management System has been awarded Verde Dentro [Green Inside] certification. 100% of our electricity comes from renewable water power sources (Grosio plant in Sondrio) and adheres to TUV SUD traceability standards. As a result, Bioclin has been able to eliminate CO₂ emissions associated with electricity.
The active ingredients in Bioclin products are natural and biodegradable: this means that when the ingredients in our products are reintroduced into the environment and come into contact with water and the land, they turn back into water, carbon dioxide and minerals.
All Bioclin products are tested on the main metals responsible for skin sensitivity, including nickel, chromium, cobalt, mercury and palladium, using instruments with a detectability limit of one part per billion (1ppb, less than 3 orders of magnitude).
We only use recyclable and recycled materials. This strategy is designed to cut our consumption of raw materials, energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions. We also reduce packaging space in order optimise logistics and transport.
We use materials with beneficial characteristics, such as glass (which ensures that formulas do not change), aluminium (impermeable to oxygen, light and humidity), R-PET and Pe-evoh (between 300 and 4,000 times more impermeable to oxygen than common plastic).
Bioclin uses R-PET, a plastic material made from recycled and recyclable materials. This helps to build a virtuous cycle in which waste material is salvaged and transformed for future use. R-PET is an environmentally sustainable material which combines high quality with a low environmental impact.
Our cardboard is 100% FSC-certified. The labelling on our products shows that they adhere to FSC requirements regarding forestry management and the traceability of cellulose fibre present in the cardboard.
Bioclin has chosen to team up with Treedom on a green-fingered project to plant new trees in the world and encourage CO₂ absorption. It is a tangible example of our commitment to biodiversity and the reforestation of our planet.
The electricity we use is 100% from renewable water power sources, allowing us to eliminate CO₂ emissions caused by fossil fuels. This important step has seen our laboratories, offices and production operation become completely carbon neutral.
We formulate cosmetics which use natural ingredients and take care to ensure that our supply chain has no negative impact on food consumption in countries of origin.
We are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), which promotes the sustainable, controlled cultivation and use of palm oil and its derivative products. Our commitment stems from a desire to eliminate the deforestation caused by the palm oil supply chain.
Bioclin's Bio-Argan oil has been awarded Ecocert certification, in recognition of cultivation and harvest methods which respect the environment and local communities. Founded in France in 1991, Ecocert is an organic certification organisation. It conducts inspections in over 80 countries, making it one of the largest organic certification organisations in the world.
Bioclin uses green polyethylene (Green PE), a plastic material made from 100% recyclable sugar cane. The main difference between this and conventional polyethylene is that the ethanol used in Green PE is not manufactured from crude oil, but derived from the processing of sugar cane. So every tonne of Green PE produced captures up to 3.09 tons of CO2, thus helping to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
